ORGANISATION

The church was established on North Road adjacent to the Law Courts in 1960 and occupies the building that was formerly a Wesleyan Methodist church built in 1838.  It formerly met in a purpose made building on Cheetham Street, which was demolished to make way for the Guild Hall.

The building is listed both inside and out but has been upgraded and adapted in keeping with its Victorian heritage and in consultation with The Victorian Society and the Heritage Trust

The church belongs to the national Assemblies of God denomination

The church has always had an active children’s and youth work but the children we are now reaching come from the inner city and the more deprived areas of Preston.

AIMS

Our aims are to take the good news of Christianity to the young people of Preston, to offer them an alternative lifestyle to the inevitable, through providing a night where they can come and have fun but learn about God in a relative way to them.
To extend our care and support to them beyond the one evening a week they meet on the premises.
Where appropriate to offer support to the families in a practical way.
To integrate the children into church life

TRAINING OF OUR WORKERS

We have support from the Churches Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) which give 24 hour access for advice
Each worker is required to attend a training course entitled “Facing the Unthinkable” provided by the CCPAS which relates to the abuse of children and how to deal with reported cases
We operate a Child Protection Policy which is regularly reviewed and all workers are required to work within the guidelines of the Policy
All our workers are vetted through the Criminal Records Bureau
