AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aim of the Council is to enable the Borough's Voluntary Youth Organisations to work together co-operatively to meet the needs and aspirations of all young people in the locality.

The four basic functions of the Council are:

Development –

meeting the changing needs of young people

improving the effectiveness of organisations in delivering good quality youth work

Representation – raising the public awareness of the

work of the voluntary youth sector

issues that affect young people

Advocacy –

advocating on behalf of the Council members who work with young people

advocating on behalf of young people to policy makers and the public

empowering young people

Co-ordination-

to prevent duplication

to assist long-term development
