The Youth Service is an integral part of the education service supported by the Catholic Church of the Lancaster Diocese. Both act for the Bishop and Diocesan Trustees and operate under the General Diocesan Charity Number: LRCDTR Charity Number 234331 AIMS OF
THE SERVICE
1) To
provide an educational service that can assist young people to develop as well balanced
social human beings. 2) To
provide opportunities to help young people develop their faith and their ability to integrate this with their every day lives. 3) To
assist the Catholic community in discerning, and finding ways of responding to the need of their young people. 4) To
encourage the integration of generations, by assisting individuals and groups to work together co-operatively with mutual support and respect. 5) To
draw young people into responsible participation in the life mission and ministry of the Church ·
In fulfilling these aims the service takes account of the
social, emotional, spiritual intellectual and cultural need of individuals, and groups,
and an awareness of the environment of their local community. Objectives which allow the service to meet these
aims are determined and reviewed annually. MISSION
STATEMENT
The work of the Diocesan Youth Service is centred on Christ
himself; his humanity, his vision for the world, his knowledge of the Father and his
divinity. We acknowledge that development of the human person enables individuals to
become more Christ like, and so more able to see creation through the eyes of Christ. The Youth Service is a partnership between the parishes, high
schools, volunteers and paid staff of the diocese. As
appropriate, at both local and area level, work may also be done in co-operation with
LEA's and other agencies. The two distinct arms of the service; Residential and Outreach,
work in close co-operation to provide a range of opportunities that promote our aims and
give support to those actively working to meet the needs of young people. Director of Youth Services: Fr J O'Connor St Joseph's
Presbytery, Chaplain to Residential Services: Fr Paul Embery Castlerigg Manor,
Keswick, Further details
about the work of the Service can be gained from the contact people listed above. |
